Great news out of Vermont today: The Green Mountain State just became the fourth in the nation to pass Automatic Voter Registration. Can you feel the momentum?
Automatic Voter Registration laws remove barriers to voting and make it possible for more Americans to have their voices heard on Election Day. Simply put, laws like the one Vermont just passed make our democracy more democratic.
Four states is great, but it’s far from enough.
The Vermont bill passed the House with a unanimous, resounding 137-0 vote and was signed into law today. Congratulations to Governor Peter Shumlin and the Vermont Legislature on this historic accomplishment.
Thank you, Vermont, for joining California, Oregon and West Virginia in the fight to remove obstacles to participation in our democracy. Let’s keep the momentum going!
